Skene Association President Jessie B. Skeens Jr.
Jessie
B. Skeens Jr. was elected President of Clan Skene at Grandfather
Mountain Highland games July 2005. Jessie was born September 27,
1946 at Fort Belvoir, Alexandria Virginia. He attended a number of
schools in northern Virginia before his father retired as a Master
Sergeant from the U. S. Army in 1960 and moved the family to
Florida. He attended Oak Ridge High school in Orlando, Florida
before enlisting in the U.S. Army in 1964. Basic training was at Ft.
Gordon Georgia, Advance Training with 4th Inf. Div. Fort
Lewis Washington State, Parachute jump school Fort Benning GA.
Parachute Rigger school Fort
Lee Va. Assigned to 82nd Airborne Div., saw combat duty
in Dominican Republic 1965-1966. Made 19 Miltary jumps and 80 free
falls. Started with the Orlando Fire Department in December 1969
served 25 years 3 months before retiring as a; Engineer in March
1996. Married Joyce A.
Pickin 1968 and had 1 son Jessie B. Skeens III, Married Luanna J.
Smith May 17, 1981, who had a son Timothy E. Six, raised both boys
together. Served as Clan Skene Quartermaster from 2000 to 2005.
Active in Clan Skene since 1999. Jessie currently resides
in Orlando, Florida.

Ralph and Dorna Comp
Past Clan Skene Association President and Mrs.
Comp
Ralph
Comp served as President of the Clan Skene Association from July,
2000 to July ,2005. Mr. Comp was born April 13, 1940, in
Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He
attended Milwaukee county public schools, graduating in 1958 from
Bay View High. Mr. Comp entered the U.S. Navy, attended
Submarine School and was assigned to SSR 269.
He left the Navy in 1960 and attended Marquette University
for two years. Mr. Comp
re-entered the Navy in 1964 and served to 1990.
He served aboard various submarines and tenders. He was commissioned as officer in 1978 and was assigned
to submarine tender in Holy Loch, Scotland for two years.
Mr. Comp received a Bachelor of Science degree (Sociology)
from Florida Southern College in 1980 and a Masters degree (Human
Relations) from Webster College in 1982. Married to Dorna Lewin,
Sept 14, 1984. The Comps have four children (Ralph A., Kimberly,
Ronald, and Kara) and two step-daughters (Lisa and Edie), with a
total of seven grandchildren, residing in Charleston, South
Carolina; Stuart, Florida; and Nashville, Tennesee. Mr. Comp
retired as Port Operations Officer, Cape Canaveral, Florida in April
1990. He served as State Probation/Parole Officer in
Titusville, Florida and retired in August 2000. The Comps currently reside in Summerville, South
Carolina.

World War II Veteran
Born in 1925 at Valley Home near Morristown,
Hamblen County, Tennessee. Attended Nelson Grade School, Morristown
Junior and Senior High Schools in and around Morristown, Tennessee.
Drafted into the US Army in August 1943. Completed Basic
Training at Ft. Rucker, Alabama, serving with both Companies B
& D, 88th Chemical Mortar Battalion.
In early 1944 my unit was sent to the South Pacific.
I served in combat duty as a Radio Operator for a Forward
Observer Party while seeing Combat Duty at the Palau Group of
Islands; Leyte, Philippines; and Okinawa, Japan.
Honorably discharged on 12 November 1945, then
served three years in reserve status.
In February 1949 I joined Co K, 3rd Battalion, 278th
Regimental Combat Team, Tennessee National Guard. This unit was called to active duty in September 1950,
and was assigned to Ft. Devens, Massachusetts.
At the end of my enlistment in February 1952, I
reenlisted for six years and remained in the Army, retiring
July 1, 1971. During
my Army career I served in several capacities in various types of
units until April 1960, at which time I was appointed as a Warrant
Officer, W!. Continued
to serve in the US Army Air Defense Command until I retired while
stationed at Western Electric, Winston-Salem, North Carolina.
There I entered civilian employment at Western Electric and
continued until I retired in May 1987, by which time Western
Electric had become AT&T.
I have five living children, nine grandchildren,
and three great grandchildren.
It was my distinct pleasure to serve as
President of Clan Skene Association, Inc. from 1989 thorough 2000,
and I currently serve as President Emeritus for this great clan.
